Eke Ukwu Owere Saga LG Chairman blasts Imo Government over Relocation

More prominent Owerri Indigenes have continued to voice out their displeasure over the planned relocation of Eke-Ukwu Owere market by Imo state government.

The latest is the Executive Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council, Chief Emma Odor, who tongue lashed the Okorocha Administration over the proposed relocation.

Speaking to Imo Trumpeta on telephone, Chief Odor said that the idea is not only a wishful thinking but rather a day dreaming.

According to the Chairman, Eke Ukwu Owere apart from representing ancestral and ancient symbol of the “Owere Man”, remains one of the only remaining few landmarks of their fore-fathers.

He made it clear that as the executive Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council, that it is under his portfolio to supervise, manage and maintain markets within the municipality.

He Pointed out that there has never been any time any government both present and past had discussed the issue of relocating the market with the people of Owere Nchi-Ise nor with their Eze, His Royal Highness Eze Dr. Emmanuel Njemanze, or the Eze in Council or the Owere Peoples Assembly (OPA).

Chief Odor however advised the people of Owere Nchi-Ise to shun the plan as it could better be described as a rumour.
