Residents of Imo State, especially those in Owerri are raising concern over the alleged conduct of security operatives attached to Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Paul Emeziem.
One the security detail was accused to have shot at a vehicle in front of the Speaker’s convoy which got the vehicles tire punctured.
The incident, according to what Trumpeta learnt occurred on the Owerri-Okigwe road by Nkwoji junction. Video evidences and eye witnesses accounts have it that while the siren blaring convoy of the Speaker was approaching Owerri from the Akabo end of the road, the driver of the vehicle who was ahead and was about negotiating right to Obazu Mbieri road before an overzealous security aide rushed out and used his gun to puncture one of the tyres.
According to accounts which included a video and pictures, that showed the punctured tyre and wheel, the offence of the driver of the vehicle perhaps was inability of stop and wait for the convoy vehicles to pass.
Trumpeta learnt that after puncturing the tyre, the convoy left immediately and raced towards Owerri. The action of the security aide in the Speaker’s convoy raised concern from by-standers and others who witnessed the scene.
According to online posts Trumpeta secured in the social media, the Speaker’s media aide was quoted to have said that his boss was not aware of the incident as he was tired coming back from a hectic assignment and was sleeping when it happened.
However, another part of the news which has gone viral has it that the victim, one Wisdom Onyemanwa was reached to meet with the Speaker on Monday over the incident. Trumpeta was informed that the victim and another associate escaped being allegedly abducted by whiskers. The victim in his account alleged that.
While he went to Priceless stores along the Heroes Square boulevard Owerri to be picked by the aides of the Speaker, “ those who came with a white Hilux truck in company of two other men entered the supermarket and those two men accosted the victim accusing him that he climbed the leg of a Policeman with his vehicle and blocked the Speaker on the road and they attempted to grab him he rushed into his car and they grabbed his friend that went with him and was trying to force him into the Hilux but he was lucky to escape and the two of them ran away. As I am writing, the young man is terrified and is running away from Imo”, a source revealed.
