As part of ways to keep players of Imo Angels FC fit and ready for eventualities, the fastest growing female team in Nigeria were on Saturday held to a 3-3 draw by U-15 male team of Builders FC of Emekuku in Owerri North LGA.
Imo Angels were pegged back 15 minutes into the game played at the Old Township Stadium, Owerri from a mix up in the midfield as the visitors went in front but rallied round to equalise and go into the lead with goals from team captain Gift Chinedu Chinaka and Asaumpta Onuekwusi who converted from the penalty spot.
The visitors restored parity minutes into the second half but the persistent pressure from the girls enabled had tackling Ezinne Otuh the chance to restore Angels lead before the boys fought had for the equaliser to send the pulsating encounter at 3-3 as the girls won the admiration of the spectators who couldn’t believe it was girls vs boys.
Meanwhile, up rising young goalkeeper of Imo Angels FC, Echefu Tina gave herself an early birthday present with her wonderful performance during the friendly encounter with Builders FC U-15 male side.
Tina who was spurred by the new kits donated the Angels by Super Falcons Striker, Desire Oparanozie as she looked very brilliant in goal in the FC Dijion replica wears alongside her team mates posting wonderful saves and good reading of the game without shipping in much goals.
She was however celebrated by her team mates after their training session on Monday marking her birthday in style.
Speaking to Trumpeta sports desk on her performance after the game, Tina said;
“I have taken all the knocks from my coaches, team mates and fans but now is the time to proof that I can make and I know that with had work and discipline the sky will be my limit.
“After the return of Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie and hearing her humble beginning, I also believe I can make with dedication by God’s Grace.
