Imo State Civil Servants and Pensioners are now in serious challenging situation because of their unpaid money and may go on strike any moment from now.
Trumpeta learnt that the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria Imo State wing on Tuesday stormed the State Secretariat Owerri to register their grievances.
Our reporter gathered that the Senior Civil Servants met with the Information Commissioner, Chief Declan Emelumba and complained about their unpaid money coupled with other ill treatments allegedly meted out on them by the State Government.
The aggrieved workers regretted why the State Government refused to promote its Civil Servants. They also raised eyebrow on the salary staggering and inability of the State Government to verify accurately and pay workers their salary arrears.
“We may down tools if the State Government refuse to pay us our money and give us promotion” one of the aggrieved worker told Trumpeta.
It would be recalled that a good number of Imo Civil Servants have not been paid for more than one year now.
They unpaid workers and pensioners as we gathered can no longer take good care of their families. Some of them have now turned to professional beggars.
Concerned Imolites are now calling on the governor of Imo State Senator Hope Uzodinma to consider it necessary as a matter of urgency and pay workers and pensioners in the State.
