The Deputy National Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Chief Henry Ekpe has charged members of the party in Imo State who are yet to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to do so now.
Speaking to Journalists at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Ekpe who hails from Imo State said that PDP members in Imo State should exploit the opportunity created by the Voters Card revalidation exercise across the country by INEC and sort out whatever is the problem with their voters cards, as this will avoid them being disenfranchised in the next election.
“Every member of PDP within the age of 18 years and above who had problem with their voters cards before now should visit the nearest INEC office and normalize whatever is the problem. This is the time to rectify whatever is the issue so that you can contribute to your civic rights during the 2023 elections” Ekpe said.
He also urged those who have reached voting age to avail themselves of the time now and register, pointing out that voters card is a right, and power to determine who becomes what in the next election.
He said that it is through the number of voters that INEC create Electoral Booths and Wards, pointing out that the population of people registered in a given community determines the number of Booths given to such a people, asking that PDP members should troop out and register and correct whatever issues they have with their Voters Cards.
The PDP National Officer commended the Imo PDP Executive led by Chief Charles Ugwu on their efforts in convincing PDP members to register and normalize their voters cards.
“The State Working Committee SWC is doing well in the face of all challenges. PDP is as an opposition party is doing well in Imo State” the Deputy National Financial Secretary said.
