Camp Hope, Coalition Stakeholders struggle For Structures
With few weeks remaining for the organization of All Progressive Congress, APC Congress in States, leaders of the party in Imo are getting for war.
Trumpeta learnt that going by the programs of the National Caretaker Committee of the party, date for congresses beginning from ward, LGA, State would soon be announced.
This newspaper gathered authoritatively from party sources that the congresses may be held next month except there are changes in the programs.
It was gathered that most of the leaders are struggling to not only have a say but not sholved aside in the formation of the structures. The battle is mainly between CampHope and Coalition. A thin line demarcates the two groups even as they are known to be major supporters of the governor.
Giving the fact that the major opposition group led by Senator Rochas Okorocha may not pose a threat to the Uzodinma supporters considering that they have been knocked out, another internal war has resumed.
Owerri zone is worse hit where the battle will be between CampHope; those with the governor from PDP, against the old APC called Coalition.
Trumpeta was informed that Coalition leaders like the former Deputy Governor of the State, Prince Eze Madumere who appears to have been withdrawn from governance, former SSG, Chief Jude Ejiogu, Dr TOE Ekechi and others will square out with the likes of Prince Lemmy Akakem, Chief Martin Agbaso to control affairs of the party in the nine LGAs.
Already some of the leaders in the zone have started having friction over who gets what in the party which has been traced to division between the Camp Hope and Coalition groups.
In Okigwe zone, our correspondent learnt that it is between new comers to the Camp Hope against the old followers.
Senator Uzodinma who joined APC from PDP came with loyal supporters known as CampHope while others who struggled to be in the party for the 2019 elections are called Coalition.
Trumpeta further gathered that the Coalition group are battling hard to ensure that CampHope agents don’t get everything to themselves without their inputs.
According to information available to the newspaper, some of the Coalition, though not opposed to the Uzodinma government since they are yet to gain political patronage, are battling not to lose in emerging congresses by seeking the support of Abuja in the struggle.
