Apparently perturbed by the worsening Insecurity situation in Imo State, the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma may have finally settled for dialogue.
Uzodinma, through his democracy day celebration over the weekend proposed for dialogue with whoever that may feel aggrieved.
The essence of the dialogue, Trumpeta Newspaper learnt, may not be unconnected with the continued security lapses across the State that had led to the loss of many lives and property, including Security Agents.
Following the disturbing mayhem, the Governor had been on several television stations, with blame games where he blamed everybody, one the breach of insecurity in the state, but himself.
At first, he alleged that the hoodlums terrorizing the State were members of the Eastern Security Network, a unit of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB.
After then, he pointed accusing fingers at non Igbos. Later he said it was politicians.
However, suspecting that the task of restoring peace and normalcy in the State could be solved by a collective effort, Governor Uzodinma disclosed that he is willing and ready for any meaningful dialogue that would bring an end to the violence in the State.
“In the spirit of democracy, I am willing and available for any meaningful dialogue that would bring an end to violence in our dear State”.
The Chief Security Officer of Imo added,
“May I use the occasion of this democracy day to appeal to everyone to sheath his sword. I believe that as brothers and sisters from the same State, we can resolve our differences amicably without resort to violence”.
“Imo State has been known as the bastion of hospitality and peace. We should collectively come together to rebuild our State and build its economy. With what has happened, investments are jeopardised and may soon take flight. Our youths are losing the few jobs they have. This should not be the legacy we should leave for our children”, Governor Uzodinma said.
However, many political observers were not happy that the Governor invited Military to the State which many said had led to the extrajudicial murder of many Imo citizens. Meanwhile, there is indication that peace is gradually returning to the State after a Joint Force of Security Forces recorded a big success by gunning down a man said to be kingpin of the Unknown Gunmen.
