Certificate Wahala! PDP queries Imo Speaker’s Academic qualification

The squabble between the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and the Speaker of Imo House of Assembly Rt Hon Benji Uwajumogu has assumed a new dimension, as the party has queried Uwajumogu’s academic qualification and pedigree to man the affairs of Imo Legislature.

In a Press Release signed by Chief Blyden Amajirionwu, the spokesman of the party in Imo State, the PDP accused Uwajumogu of parading a Diploma Certificate from a French Institute, which it said diminishes the office Uwajumogu is presently occupying, when compared with his predecessors in that office.

PDP which was reacting to Uwajumogu’s reaction on the party’s earlier description of him as a dishonourable man, and therefore should resign, said that rather than address the issues raised, Uwajumogu was using a fictitious group to parry the questions raised by PDP.

PDP maintained its stand that Uwajumogu should resign from his office, since he has lied to Imo people by claiming that he still remains a member of the PDP, even as he presently occupies the office of the Speaker, in a House dominated by APGA members.

PDP went on to say that Uwajuogu left the party on June 6, 2011, and therefore was fooling Imo people by insisting that he is still a PDP member.

“Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu on the 6th of June 2011 made a pronouncement announcing his decampment from Peoples Democratic Party PDP and joined the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).  That was a decision he expressed that is not in doubt” PDP said.

The party was also angry that rather than address the issues raised by the party, Uwajumogu was busy insulting PDP and going personal.

Therefore, the party questioned Uwajumogu’s academic qualification to man the office of Speaker in Imo, a state which PDP said every family can boast of a Graduate.

“It becomes abnormal for a person who merely passed GCE ordinary level and a doubtful Diploma in Francaise Paris to preside over the respected Imo House of Assembly” Amajirionwu wrote.

The release went on to say that “I may like to point out to the Speaker that his predecessors are men of known pedigree.  Bar Noel Agwuocha, Bar Goddy Dikeocha, Bar Nnaemeka Maduagwu and Bar Kelechi Nwagwu are all well known Lawyers.  His immediate predecessor, Chief Nana Goodluck Opiah has a sound Degree in Agro-Economics”.
