Except the Imo State government utilizes today, the remaining working day of the week to pay workers, unpleasant looks have taken over the faces of civil servants in the state.
Trumpeta learnt that civil servants in Imo are in painful mood at the moment as they are embarking on Easter holidays this weekend without pay.
Worse hit are those who have been observing starvation arising from non- payment and slashing of salaries since Uzodinma came on board last year.
When our correspondent visited the state secretariat and government agencies during the week, the mood of the workers had been low with complaints galore on their lips.
While some of the lamenting workers accused the Uzodinma administration of deliberately inflicting hardship on them by refusing to pay them on the basis that they were “ghost workers” others complained of slashed payment.
The national leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, which visited Owerri last week had threatened to give Uzodinma a run for his money for inability to pay workers their monthly salaries.
Uzodinma had in public declared that “ghost workers” would not be paid by his governments.
