The People of Oru West State Constituency have resolved to begin recall processes, from next month, of their representative in the Imo House of Assembly, Hon Donatus Odoemenam, who happens to be the Deputy Speaker.
According to reports available to Imo Trumpeta, the Constituents came to this conclusion after what they called enough trial periods to see if Hon Odoemenam will change his attitude towards those who “sent” him to Owerri.
Speaking to Imo Trumpeta, Chief Onyekwere Onyejiuba said that since one and half years now that Odoemenam has mounted his position as the second in command in the Assembly, he has not done anything for the constituency to be proud that their son is holding such a plum job in Owerri.
“As I am talking to you now, Hon Donatus Odoemenam has not called any meeting or constituency briefing to inform the people who sent him there how things are. Instead he has assumed that he sent himself to the House of Assembly and only blaring siren wit convoy to intimidate our people” Chief Onyejiuba said.
Contributing, a youth leader Barr. Cosmos Onyeneche said that even as crime rate of kidnappings and other sundry vices are rising everyday within Mgbidi, Odoemenam does not care, since he lives in Owerri, and only comes home during burials or weddings. The people are living in fear in Mgbidi and he is not doing anything to stop the crime. The other day police and government officials came to bulldoze houses of kidnappers in the area.
“The youths are not happy. Even some of our youths working for him are complaining of poor payment of salaries not enough for their status” Barr. Onyeneche said.
The other allegation against the Deputy Speaker is that Gov Okorocha said he would make Mgbidi a satellite city, but up till date nothing has been heard about the issue again and yet Hon Odoemenam has not made efforts for the realization of that dream for the people of Mgbidi.
When Imo Trumpeta called the Deputy Speaker, his line rang repeatedly without him picking the phone.
But a close source to Odoemenam who wish to speak under anonymity said that all the allegations made against the Deputy Speaker were false, adding that Odoemenam is one of the best lawmakers in Imo, and takes good care of his constituents and staff.
