Even as the Imo State Government is yet to officially pronounce any amount to be paid by students of the Imo State University for next session, uncertainty has taken over the campus as yet to be ascertained sources revealed that there are plans to ask indigenes of the institution to pay fees.
It would be recalled that the administration of Owelle Rochas Okorocha introduced a new regime of payment that de emphasized school fees for non indigenes but had ancillary fees paid by the students.
The months Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha was in office didn’t witness a change in fees paid until now Senator Hope Uzodinma is in power.
Trumpeta learnt that there is uneasy calm in the campus following the report that indigenes would henceforth pay the sum of N120,000 as tuition fee.
Though, the discussion about the development is going on in hushed tones as no notice or circular points to the new development in the campus.
A competent source informed Trumpeta that the amount is only being discussed at management level but no official statement yet.
“I can tell you that it is not yet official. We are yet to receive such any circular for such directive. What I know is that it is being muted as an idea”, a management staff who didn’t want his name in print told Trumpeta.
Efforts to get the views of the school authorities and commissioner for education on the matter proved abortive as no one was able to speak on their matter.
