IBARI OGWA PLANS BIG, BUILDS HOTEL

A household name in the out-door entertainment industry and owner of the famous Ibari Ogwa Spot, Chukwudi Ofoha is planning big for his outfit. POPULAR SIDE learnt that apart from relocating his outfit to another befitting station, a hotel or rather guest house will added in the new site to make the Ibari Ogwa, ericha arahu, (when you finish eating, you sleep). It was learnt that in no distant time, Odongo Protocol as Ofoha is fondly called will quit the rented place onChief Emma Ugorji Street, New Owerri for his new location onUmuguma/Hospital RoadbyPorthacourt Rdjunction. An on going house project is said to be the structure of Ibari Ogwa. Apart from the Sit-Out, there will be a guest house to serve the interest of customers willing to relax after each day. It would be recalled that at time Ibari Ogwa was facing difficulties from his landlord who issue it with quit notice to vacate the place.

 

AHAMBA’S SON EYES FATHER’S “BIG SHOE”

He may be a young man and still fresh in the legal profession, but what he has in mind and ambition is great. Barrister Kelechi Ahamba, the son of revered legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Sir Mike Ahamba wants to take over from the father. After graduation as a lawyer, the younger Ahamba has no option than to join the father’s chamber to continue the legal practice. Despite the presence of numerous layers working in the Ahamba’s Chamber, Kelechi joined to find his level. The ambition of the youthful Ahamba is to surpass his father’s record. Unlike the children of the rich or those born with silver spoon, Kelechi is unassuming, quiet and hardworking. He moves unnoticed and focused to the core. From the way he radiates, there is no gainsaying in the fact that he has what it takes to take over from the dad. The fair skinned lad takes his time to attend to all matters at the father’s office and is not bossy as the case may be. He even drives himself. Unconfirmed reports have it that Kelechi wants to make it big in the legal profession.

 

HON NWAFOR AND THE “DIBIA” STATUS

During the recent swearing-in of member representing Oguta State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Eugene Dibiagwu, the Speaker, Rt Hon Ben Uwajumogu reportedly said that the Oguta Member is another Dibia in the House. POPULAR SIDE began to search for the other Dibias and it was discovered that the member representing Ngor Okpala, Emeka Nwafor is fondly called Dibia. The name did not suggest that Nwafor is a juju priest or engages in certain diabolical acts rather reasons for the pet-name came about because of his dressing. The traditional red cap usually worn by the Ngor Okpala member made his colleagues especially the Speaker to fondly call him Nwa Dibia. It is usual to see others call Nwafor Dibia at House occasions.

 

WHERE IS NDAA LEVI OGUIKE?

He is one of the foremost politicians Owerri West LGA has produced haven represented Owerri Federal Constituency in the National Assembly and a commissioner in the state. Hon Levi Oguike seems to have bid bye to politics. The Umuguma-born politician is not seen in public and social circle in recent times. After working for the last administration where he acted as a commissioner and a leader for the PDP government, Ndaa Levi may have gone to political hibernation since his party lost out. With the arrival of APGA government and their key players, there is no chance for the like of Ndaa Levi to dominate events again in the state and his Owerri West locality. Feelers also disclosed that age may be catching up with the soft-speaking politician. Ndaa Levi may be given another chance in 2015 to see if he can dominate events again.

 

HON MERE AND his DODGING TACTICS

If there is a member of the Imo state House of Assembly that is gifted in the art of dodging or avoiding his constituents, it is the member representing Owerri state constituency, Hon. Victor Mere.

Popular side was reliably informed that the bulky black skinned legislator is in the habit of not keeping scheduled appointments and not picking his calls.
As part of the dodging tactics, he dose not park his Nissan Jeep in the car pot assigned to his fellow lawmakers at the Assembly Complex, a move said to be a strategy to send signals to his visiting constituents that he is not within the Assembly complex.

Aside this, some youths in the municipality allege that he is in the habit of “posting” them with empty and false appointments which he never keeps.

One of the youths confided in popular side that whenever he sights a youth gathering, he adjust the seat of his Jeep to hide his bulky frame or tell his driver to zoom off.

Popular side was told that Mere’s hide and seek game is the sole reason why he is yet to hold his first constituency briefing since he was elected into the House to represent Owerri municipal state constituency.
