The Imo Youths that were employed by the state government under the Imo Youth Engineers Corps have cried out over the inability of the state government to pay them their monthly    since they were recruited.

The Imo Youths Engineers Corps was established by the state government this year to provide one year training programme to young engineer graduates who are unemployed.

Speaking to the Imo Trumpeta, one of the participants of the scheme, Engr. Chidi Akalonu lamented that since they started the scheme in June last year nothing has been paid to them.

Engr. Akalonu said that they were promised twenty thousand naira each month as stipend, yet till now all they have been receiving have been excuses. He stated that many of the young engineers come to work from very far distances. He appealed to the state government to quickly pay them so as to alleviate their sufferings.

On the relevance of the trainings they are receiving on their profession as engineers, Engr. Akalonu stated that the training scheme is important as it has enabled them to put what they learnt in school into practice.

He said that the training scheme will enable them to be better engineers, and he expressed his gratitude to the state government for brining the vision to set up the scheme.
