A High court sitting in Owerri on Tuesday, 30th October, 2012 upheld the election which brought into power the Amanze Uchegbulam’s Led Board of the Imo State Football all Association.
In her Judgment delivered at the State high court Owerri, Justice F.I. Duruoha upheld that the claimants are state Executives and stakeholders of Imo State Football Association under the statutes for 2010 and so have the right and interest to participate in the Imo State Football Association Election of the State Executive and the Processes Leading to the emergence of members of the state Executive Committee of Imo State Football Association, which was the first Relief Sought from the court.
However, the Judge disagreed with the other six Reliefs sought from the court, thereby ruling in favour of the defendants.
Interestingly, the Judge also noted that the rest seven other claimants led by Sir Chief Uche Ejimofor had withdrawn from the case sighting “Allowing Peace to reign in Imo State Football Family” as their reason, while Barrister Charles Okoroa for insisted on pursuing the case to it’s logical end.
With this ruling, the court therefore has okayed the election which ushered in the Amanze Led Board.
The Imo FA in its statement released yesterday and signed by the secretary, Sir Ben Ik Agu, has solicited that All Football stakeholders co-operate with the Board to Lead Football to its highest height in the state.
It could be recalled that immediately after the Imo FA Board election early 2010, some aggrieved stakeholders decided to take the Amanze Led Board to court challenging the election that brought them into power among other things which has now been upheld.
