The General Manager of Heartland FC, Owerri has commended attitude of his players especially during their recent pre season friendly match against Bayelsa United FC at Yenogoa last weekend.
Trumpeta Sports desk gathered that although the GM would have preferred a victory over the NNL side but was satisfied that his team’s good character even after going one goal down fighting back to restore parity and almost won the encounter but for some near misses.
Recall that Bayelsa United had on lost to Enyimba FC of Ana via penalties during the just concluded Okezie Ikpazu Pre Season tournament hosted at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba.
He pointed out that this was the first grade A pre season game for his team haven just overcome a turbulent time which was graciously resolved by the Governor.
While commending his technical crew led by Coach Fidelis Illechukwu, the GM assured that they are making every effort to ensure that the players welfare is top notch in other to ensure that they are well motivated for the coming season.
The clubs General Manager who also admitted that the team has since gone into closed camping immediatly afer they returned from their trip to Bayelsa to enable them focus on perfecting their tactics as well stay focused,
Meanwhile, Fans/supporters of the Naze Millionaires as they are fondly called have lamented the need for the state government to make all financial assistance the club need available.
Speaking recently in Owerri shortly after the clubs first pre season game, the Supporter’s Club Chairman, Mr Nkemnka said the General Manager has done well by using his contacts and football managerial skills to attract quality players even after starting preparations very late but expressed worries that all these wonderful efforts may amount to nothing if these players are not cleared to play for Heartland FC and their welfare not taken proper care of due to poor funding.
He observed that all other NPFL sides have all concluded their preparations for the new season while the Eastern Heartland darling club is still grasping with lack of funds.
He however thanked the state Governor, Sen Hope Uzodinma for his quick support and asked all well meaning sons and daughters of the state to rally round and give the club all the necessary support it needs so they can recapture its lost glory.
Heartland’s next friendly according to report will be against Abia Warriors later this week.
