The Confusion in Imo All Progressive Congress (APC) Imo State chapter has continued, despite the appeal made the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who is an APC man.
Few days to the senatorial bye election in Okigwe zone, the factions of Imo APC have refused to join forces together as one.
Trumpeta learnt that after the senatorial primaries in Okigwe zone, two major factions came up with one supporting Senator Ifeanyi Araraume while the other is supporting Frank Ibezim.
Nlemigbo led Exco submitted the name of Frank Ibezim as the winner of primaries, Mathew Omegara and Ifeanyi Araraume were listed to have come second and third respectively in the Okigwe APC senatorial primaries.
Araraume went to court the Federal High Court had declared that Frank Ibezim was screened out. Therefore vote cast for him a waste in the election.
Omegara Mathew who came second was also said to have been screened out by the National Screening committee of APC.
As a result of this the court directed INEC to make a substitute without delay.
Araraume became the authentic candidate and eventually began his campaign.
Later Ibezim who was disqualified went for appeal. But while the appeal was still going on, Ibezim has gone back to campaign, hoping that the appeal will favour him.
Right now APC in Imo is divided and members are confused. The Governor as we learnt is also confused on who to campaign for.
Information available to our Newsdesk revealed that Governor Uzodinma will tomorrow swing into action to campaign for both sides.
Our source revealed that he will campaign for both Araraume and Ibezim at the grand finale coming up on Wednesday this week.
When contacted, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume told newsmen that he is the authentic candidate for APC, adding that Ibezim is only working for him and nothing more.
A voice from Ibezim camp disclosed that Ibezim will at last emerge the Senator, if not now but later, in court.
“The final run will determine who is the authentic APC candidate for the Okigwe Senatorial bye-election, Ibezim’s supporter declared.
