Serious trouble has now hit the Education system in Imo State following the inability of those in authority to conduct Examinations like Common Entrance for the final year pupils in the primary schools going to the next level (JSS1) Junior WAEC for those in JSS2 moving to SS1 and other related Examinations.
Our reporter observed that those in the Examination Centre Department are now confused on what to do.
Recently, the Commissioner for Education Prof B.T.O Ikeagwuoha raised eyesbrow on the present situation and directed that a new question papers for the Entrance Exam should be printed without delay for the Exams to take place in Imo.
He regretted why there should be delay in the Exams.
Information revealed that there was alleged fraud in the system which affected Exams.
Our source hinted those suspected to be part of the alleged fraud are now under serious investigation.
The Commissioner for Education as we learnt want the right thing to be done. He always emphasised on merit and kicks against Examination fraud. This time as we gathered, he wants fresh question papers to be printed for the Entrance Examination as to meet up the lost session.
The first school living certificate exam, common entrance exams and others as we gathered will now take place before the end of this month.
Meanwhile, the teachers are now preparing the school children for the entrance exams that will be coming soon.
In a related development, Governor Hope Uzodinma has given out school bags, books and other writing materials to school children on Monday at Hero’s square, new Owerri.
Our reporter gathered that over 300 schools benefited from the gift items.
Some of the school children who got the free gifts praise Governor Uzodinma for the good gesture.
