Indications are that tension have gripped the Imo Government House Owerri known as Douglas House, as the Supreme Court matter filed by an Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, former staff, Barr Phillip Umeadi dominates discussion in the seat of power.
Sources told this Newspaper that the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma is not taking the issue lightly as those close to him say he is wondering what could come out of the contentious litigation that has stretched the Imo Governorship tussle for over a year now.
Trumpeta also was told that some of Gov Uzodinma’s Aides have been asking questions of what could be their fate, should the table turn otherwise.
This Newspaper was informed that already there have been frantic efforts from some Uzodinma’s Allies to know from the Supreme Court what really is the meat of the matter.
Meanwhile, sources said that the case billed to take place this week may be deferred to a later date due to the restiveness in the Federal Capital Abuja, caused by Youth Demonstration across the Nation.
Information available said that the imbroglio surrounding the 2019 Imo Governorship election is not yet over until it is over as the case filed by Umeadi against the All Progressive Congress APC remains the jigsaw puzzle that will settle the Imo Governorship election finally.
Umeadi had approached the Supreme Court to enforce its judgment that the APC had no candidate in the 2019 Imo Governorship poll.
The former INEC staff is contending that since the Supreme Court had earlier ruled that Chief Uche Nwosu of Action Alliance, AA, be disqualified from the election for being both APC and AA Governorship candidate, how come APC still filled in a candidate in the person of Senator Hope Uzodinma in that election, who now is the Governor of Imo State.
The matter which ought have come and gone before, was delayed till date because of the vacation embarked on by Judiciary staff for their Annual Holidays.
However, the Demonstrations in Abuja may still shift further the hearing which will still come up whenever the country is calm and the Supreme Court ready to address Umeadi’s petition on enforcing its earlier judgment.
