For months now, the All Progressives Congress APC, Imo State chapter has been entertaining Imo people with drama as the party turns unpredictable every day.
The latest is the suspension galore hitting the party in Imo State, as two factions laying claim to the Executive of the party suspend each other.
Trumpeta learnt that the Chief Marcon Nlemigbo led Executive has suspended Hon Dan Nwafor, the Chairman of the other faction.
In a quick response, the Nwafor led Executive exhumed the suspension order it slammed on Nlemigbo months ago.
In a suspension letter directed to Nwafor, signed by Nlemigbo, dated August 31, 2020, with caption RE: Suspension from Membership of All Progressive Congress APC for Gross Indiscipline and Violation of APC constitution and NEC Directives, the APC said that the Disciplinary Committee set up by the party Caretaker Committee has recommended Nwafor’s suspension for failing to appear before the committee to answer to “allegation of gross Indiscipline, insubordination and Violation of Article 21A(i)(ii)(iii)(iv)(vii) and (x) of the constitution of All Progressive Congress”.
However, in a quick reply, the APC Executive faction led by Nwafor, through its Publicity Secretary, FCC Jones Onwuasoanya released an old suspension letter slammed on Nlemigbo, which stated that he was occupying to an illegal office as a Caretaker Committee Chairman.
In the present fight within Imo APC, Chief Marcon Nlemigbo is the Imo APC State Chairman of the Governor Hope Uzodinma’s faction, while Chief Daniel Nwafor is the factional Chairman of the Senators Rochas Okorocha and Ifeanyi Araraume’s Group.
While the fight continued between the two factions, the APC National Executive had written to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC that the Nlemigbo Caretaker Committee in Imo, is the party’s recognized Executive, adding that the Dan Nwafor Executive stopped existing the day the Nlemigbo Executive was inaugurated on Caretaker basis last year.
However, as it stands, members of Imo APC are confused and in disarray, as they don’t know which faction to actually follow since both Uzodinma and Araraume control a chunk of the APC followers, while the rest follow Uzodinma as the Governor.
