The palliatives and other relief items dished out by the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma to cussion the effect of Covid-19 pandemic is said to has continued to generate confusion some council areas and as a result led to physical battle
Owerri Municipal Council and few other council areas are the worst hit in the alleged mismanagement of the palliatives and fertilizers brought by government recently.
Fight broke out yesterday at the Municipal Council headquarter as Trumpeta gathered that the Interim Management Committee Chairman Hon Chief Nkwodinma held a meeting with his councilors, 13 of them to discuss vital issues.
During the meeting on Monday, some of the Councilors raized eyesbrows on the method of sharing of the palliatives and fertilizers in Owerri Municipal Council.
The chairman was not happy over the accusation leveled against as a result he disagreed with the Councilors and at that point fight started as we gathered.
One of his sons and his personal assistants (Names withheld) were said to have used a dangerous weapon to chase the aggrieved councilors away who were alleged to be challenging the IMC chairman (Hon Nkwodinma) as those who refused to move out from the office were said to have received beaten of their live by the aides of the IMC chairman. Trumpeta learnt the councilors injured were taken to a hospital close to Owerri Municipal council headquarters to receive treatment.
While the IMC chairman, Hon Nkwodinma and his men are said to have left the scene.
When our crime reporter visited the place he observed that the office of the chairman was destroyed and blood of those injured during the fight stained the whole flour.
The son of Hon Nkwodinma particularly was reported to have used a strong weapon to hit Hon Chibuike, the supervisory councilor incharge of works and transport at his forehead to give him a serious injury which eventually led to blood oozing from his head and thereafter was taken to hospital.
One of the councilors who spoke under anonymity to our reporter revealed that the council boss, Hon Nkwodinma was alleged to be given all the palliatives from Imo State government to his friends known as Abumale babies.
They also accused him of giving them fertilizers and council money.
All efforts made to reach the IMC chairman and his aides proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
