Preliminary matches to decide who represents Imo state at the 2020 Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO/SELECT A-40 All stars tournament will on Friday kick start at the Assumpta Seminary School field in Prefab Estate, Owerri.
According to a release made available to Trumpeta sports desk on Monday from his base in Abuja, ex International and former Heartland FC Sporting Director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme who is the sport wears brand representative in Nigeria said some top Nigerian coaches are expected to grace the qualifying tournament in Imo state.
Among the top NPFL gaffers the former Lagie Warsaw player suggested will honour the A-40 preliminaries in Owerri include; Imams Amakakpabo of Abia Warriors, Fidelis Ilechukwu of Heartland FC, Emmanuel Deutch formerly of Abia Warriors, Gbenga Ogunbote who recently joined Sunshine Stars of Akure and Mangut Mbwas of Warri Wolves.
Meanwhile, top teams expected to compete for the available slots and qualify for the main tournament later in October at Agbor are, Diamond Dynamics Fitness Club DDFC, Owerri, Imo All Stars Int’l, Owerri, Association of Ex -Footballers and Friends ASEFF and United Brothers All Stars also of Owerri.
Recall that the maiden edition was hosted at the Dan Anyiam stadium last year and was won by Agbo All Stars from Delta State who automatically also won this years hosting rights.
