Mixed reactions have continued to trail the donation of transformer to some communities in Mbaitoli LGA, as many believed there is a political undertone surrounding the gesture.
Last week, the Imo State House of Assembly Majority Leader, and member representing Ikeduru State constituency, Hon. Uche Ogbuagu made some remarkable outreach.
Apart from concentrating on his immediate LGA, he exceeded in donating a 300KVA transformer to some communities in Mbaitoli LGA.
This act has attracted suspicion among the Ikeduru indigenes who have began to suspect other intent to the issue.
While they talk in hush tones by suspecting that the comedian turned lawmaker may have interest in MBAIKE Federal seat come 2023, a group has come out to give credence to the suspicion.
In an online publication monitored by this newspaper credited to a group under the aegis of “Ikeduru Leaders of Thought” as led by Hon. Chinagorom Njoku, questioned the motives behind the gift to Mbaitoli, whereas he represents Ikeduru.
In a bold headline, the group demanded to know if Hon. Uche Ogbuagu is representing Mbaitoli it Ikeduru, pointing out that there are remote areas in need of transformers, yet, Ogbuagu chose to favour Mbaitoli people.
“The leadership of the group frown at Hon. Uche Ogbuagu’s overzealous ambition towards 2023 Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency Seat, which is already negatively affecting his representation to Ikeduru, which Mbaitoli is enjoying without distraction. Hon. Ogbuagu should understand that he is representing Ikeduru LGA and is answerable to the people of Ikeduru over the four years mandate given to him”.
It further read, “Taking Constituency Projects meant for Ikeduru to Mbaitoli is a joke taken too far. Hon. Ogbuagu should consult leaders from Ikeduru to help him realize the difference between comedy and real life especially as it concerns politics and dividends of democracy.
“In as much as an individual is at liberty to situate projects at any location of his/her choice, the situation is far different from a representative of people who are facing challenges of dilapidated infrastructure. It is a political taboo for Hon. Uche Ogbuagu to site Constituency Projects meant for Ikeduru at Mbaitoli”.
“We call on Hon. Uche Ogbuagu to stop forthwith, the comedy of building market at Mbaitoli while Orie Umueze market and Onuoma bridge in Okwu he started six months ago are all abandoned”.
The group further posited, “Why such desperation when Mbaitoli has rejected him and his gift. How right thinking is Uche Ogbuagu to announce pledge of 300kva Transformer to Mbaitoli same day their house of Representatives Member, Rt. Hon. Okey Onyekanma donated 300kva Transformer to the same community. This is happening when some parts of communities like: Ikembara, Okwu, Eziama, Ngugo, Amakohia, Akabo etc in Ikeduru are in total darkness for years as a result of no Transformer and have at different times visited the Honorable Member, requesting his assistance or donation of Transformer”.
Meanwhile, Hon Uche Ogbuagu in the spirit of his 48th birthday last Friday added more development to his Ikeduru constituency.
He first commissioned a bridge linking Ikeduru and Mbaise LGAs, as was abandoned since the days of Sam Mbakwe.
Another giant stride was the foundation laying of High Court complex at Iho which was observed by the State’s Acting Chief Judge, Ijeoma Agugua and other Jurists. This, he promised to complete single-handedly within a period of 3 months.
