The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Imo State chapter has condemned the attack on Governor Hope Uzodinma’s convoy by suspected staff of ISOPADEC but however blamed the Governor for causing the attack on him.
While washing off the hands of PDP on the said attack on Uzodinma, the Imo PDP New Media Director-General Comrade Ambrose Nwaogwugwu asked Uzodinma to shift his blame elsewhere and not PDP, as the party has no hand in the matter.
The PDP however said that the Governor is attracting odium to his administration following hard policies that have frustrated the masses including staff of ISOPADEC owed several months of salary arrears.
The PDP through Nwaogwugwu said ISOPADEC staff attacked “Mr Hope Uzodinma’s convoy for failing to offset their three months salary arrears, failure to constitute ISOPADEC Governing Board seven months after taking over office as the State Governor, abandonment of developmental projects started by previous administrations in the oil bearing communities, and on the rumoured abolishment of ISOPADEC”
The PDP said that dragging the name of the party in the latest attack on Uzodinma’s convoy is just to blackmail Imo PDP that has no such thought, adding that before now, Uzodinma has been having running battle with oil bearing communities in Imo.
“This is not the first time the convoy of Mr Hope Uzodinma would be attacked by youths of oil bearing communities, and we wonder why the regime would want to drag the name of opposition to their unfortunate predicaments” PDP said.
However, it would be recalled that the convoy of the Governor was attacked by some people said to be staff of ISOPADEC while on his way to attend a function at Army Barrack Obinze.
Reports from Imo police Command have it that Fifteen (15) people have been arrested and paraded for being involved in the incident.
