The State Organizing Committee for the Imo PDP Youth Football Championship, which was recently constituted has been inaugurated on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at the Party State Secretariat, Owerri.

They were all in attendance at the inauguration ceremony, which by all standards lived up to its billing.
In his address at inauguration ceremony, the State Chairman, Engr. Charles Ugwuh, stated that “one of the main purposes of the football competition was to fish out potential footballers who could use the opportunity to grow their career in football, which will in turn portray the party in good light of youth development.
“This PDP sports competition is going to be a glamorous game that will project our image as a party. It a will reflect the success story that the party now represents. The party is ready to make the competition a sustainable initiative, which will promote youth development and empowerment through sports in Imo State.”
The State Chairman implored Imo PDP youths, in particular, and youths of Imo State in general, to be patient, hardworking, creative and productive in their thoughts and actions, stressing that sports aids character and conduct development, which are useful not only in active participation in the sports, but also in general life affairs, where patience, endurance and drive play major roles in achieving success.
He assured that the party will support the plans for the hosting of the sporting events involving Imo PDP youths and even entire Imo youths now that the initiative has been brought to life.
Earlier in his speech, the State Youth Leader, Hon. Greg Nwadike GOC, said that the purpose of inaugurating the Committee was “to design strategies and plans towards a successful organization of the football championship, which include, but not limited to, fund raising, sponsorship, fixtures, promotions, prizes, kick-off date and final dates, etcetera.”
In his acceptance speech, on behalf of the Committee members, the Chairman, Kelechi Ekeh, a seasoned sports administrator, said that the committee will make everything possible for the competition to succeed.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the State Working Committee led by the State Chairman, and the party youth leaders from the 27 LGAs of the State.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the formal inauguration, and the issuance of appointment letters to the members of the State Organizing Committee by the State Youth Leader.
