Arondizuogu Community Boils over Ezeship Tussles

The people of Ndiakunwata Uno Autonomous community, Arondizuogu in Ideato North LGA of Imo state have rejected the alleged imposition of Chief Martin Orizu as the Traditional Ruler of the community.

Imo state House of Assembly and Government House played host to men, women and youths from the community who emptied into Owerri to protest the alleged imposition.

According to protest letter sent to the Special Adviser to the Governor on peace and conflict resolution, the Ndia kunwata Uno rejected the said imposition of Chief Orizu as Eze.

The letter signed by Mazi Owunna-Ogbukali (President General),Chief Leo Nwankwo (Community Leader) and Chief ROE Nwankwo (President-General Emeritus), they said Chief Orizu is from the community and therefore must be bound by the constitution of Ndiakunwanta Uno adding that the constitution provides for “Rotational Ezeship which must start from the eldest kindred”.  They alleged that the said chief Orizu hails from kindred number 3 in seniority.

While alleging that there can never be two Akajiofos at the same material time, the Group added that it was wrong for Chief Orizu to claim such, as it is against the tradition of community.

They argued that Ezeship election should be an open affair, alleging that the exercise that threw up Chief Orizu was shrouded in secrecy with exclusion of “99% of the people such an Eze intends to ruled.

They therefore called on the state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to institute a judiciary panel of inquiry into the matter
