A former Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, now a Senator of the Federal Republic, has made it abundantly clear that the present administration in Imo State, led by Senator Hope Uzodinma is populated by members of the Peoples Democratic Party, in disguise of All Progressive Congress APC.
The former Governor who spoke through his Special Adviser (Media), Sam Onwuemedo was reacting to heavy allegations poured on Okorocha by the sitting Governor, Uzodinma, why Okorocha is fighting him.
In an APC Caucus meeting held at Government House, Owerri, last weekend presided over by the Governor, Uzodinma at the Forum among other things said that Okorocha is fighting him because he refused to reinstate Chief Daniel Nwafor as Imo APC Chairman to help his 2023 Presidential ambition.
The Governor also said Okorocha is angry with him because he has refused to disband all the Probe Panels investing Okorocha era, and that Okorocha is not happy with because he has failed to recall Imo Local Government Chairmen under Okorocha who lost their seats during Governor Emeka Ihedioha’s administration.
Okorocha who described the Uzodinma Government in Imo State as made up of the PDP faction led by Uzodinma, maintained that among all the appointees numbering over One Hundred in the Uzodinma Government, not a single person is of APC, but what he called CampHope, a faction of Imo PDP members loyal to the Governor.
“The Government of Imo State as we speak or write is APC in name, but totally PDP faction is structure and in actions. The Governor has not done anything to show that he is of APC and that his Government is that of APC. The Government is CampHope Government made up of those who were with him in his own faction of PDP” Okorocha said.
Okorocha said that from the Secretary to Imo State Government, Cosmos Iwu, to his Chief of Staff; Bar Nnamdi Anyaehie, all of them are of PDP extraction.
The former Governor made it known that he is not afraid of probe or against the Panels, but that since they were set up by the past PDP Government to investigate an APC member, it was necessary for the APC Government to set up its own Probe Panels now it is in Government.
However, on that issue, Governor Uzodinma said that he left the Probe Panels to continue since he discovered that Imo people support the probes and want who ever looted what that belongs to the masses should return them.
On the Daniel Nwafor’s issue, Okorocha said that even before the present Imo APC Interim Committee led by Chief Marcon Nlemigbo was born, the Nwafor State Executive of APC had gotten an injunction stopping formation of any Imo APC than the Nwafor Executive.
Okorocha said that he could not have asked Uzodinma to recall the former Council Chairmen, since they already had a Court judgment returning them to office, even when it was not the Okorocha Government that sacked them, but the Emeka Ihedioha administration.
Senator Uzodinma disclosed that he is not fighting Uzodinma, rather it is the Governor that is raking up trouble everywhere by his style of Leadership by keeping the core Imo APC members away from his Government.
“He was inaugurated in January 2020 as Governor. The key or main members of APC in the State and their supporters were all present at the inauguration, including Rochas Okorocha, Ifeanyi Araraume, Uche Nwosu etc” Okorocha disclosed.
The Senator for Orlu zone said that those who used Uzodinma to fight him during the 2019 Imo Governorship election are at it again, adding that even when he has not told anybody he has a Presidential ambition in 2023, Uzodinma is already trumpeting the story.
“Those who used him to fight Okorocha and put a deep cut in APC in Imo have not relented for reasons Imo people and Nigerians in general know” Okorocha maintained.
