Imo Commissioners Spits Fire As 2020 WAEC Begin In Imo

Prof B.T.O Ikegwuruoha, the Commissioner incharge of Education in Imo State has declared that he will not hesitate to suspend any principal or teacher that misbehave during the period of 2020 Senior WAEC Exams which started on Monday 17the of August.
The Commissioner made this declaration while he was going round schools Imo to inspect the schools preparations for the WAEC Exams.
According to him, the State Government has done everything possible for the students to participate in the WAEC Exams adding that apart honesty, the Teachers and Principals supposed to keep the school environments clean by making sure that all class rooms, toilets and the Examination halls are clean.
He lambasted the Principal of City Secondary School Owerri for not keeping the toilets clean.
Prof Ikegwuruoha said he must visit schools on daily bases to see things by himself. He promised to make sure that there is sanity in the school system as any teacher who commits crime must receive punishment immediately.
The Commissioner was impressed when he visited Rochas Foundation school Orji and saw all the students and teachers wearing their face masks and maintained physical distancing in line with the covid-19 rules.
He also gave kudos to Delight Secondary School Site and services, New Owerri for observing the protocols as directed.
He warned that any school that did not obey the State Government must be closed down.
In his words “We have only reopened for WAEC exit class (SS 3) and not for our Internal Examination classes.  We shall reopen for other classes immediately the Senior WAEC is over.
“We must make sure that all our school children are protected” the education commissioner said.
Speaking further, he advised the students to be focused and take advantage of opportunities created by the State Government to excel.
Some of the students who spoke to our reporter promised to make Imo State proud by making sure they perform very well in their WAEC Examination.
They praised the education commissioner for living up to their expectation adding that it was the first time a Commissioner was coming close to students to give them encouragement. Prof Ikegwuruoha has recorded giant strides since he became Commissioner for Education.
