The Special Adviser to Imo State Governor, Sen Hope Uzodinma on Project Monitoring Owerri Zone, Nze Eddy Olewuike has given contractors handling some road projects in the state, a week ultimatum to place roads signposts for easy identification on their sites, warning that it’s not going to be business as usual.
Nze Olewuike who stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in Government House Owerri yesterday assured Imo citizens of the governor’s preparedness to give top priority to ongoing projects in the state and ensure high-quality delivery.
The soft spoken APC chieftain from Aboh Mbaise said “an assessment tour of ongoing projects in the state, would commence next week as Owerri zone project monitoring team would be going round to see if contractors in the state confine with government job specification.
He regretted that some road contractors absconded from site during the dry season when they were supposed to be busy fixing the roads.
Olewuike urged contractors to rise up to their responsibility, adding that his team would critically monitor the contracts to ensure they follow Gov Uzodinma’s specification.
According to him, “Governor Uzodinma has at every opportunity emphasized that his administration ‘3R’ mantra of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery must be fully implemented for the overall benefit of Imo people.”
He said “government project monitoring team is taking inventory of all on-going projects in the state. This administration will see to it that no abandoned project is left in the State. All the projects that have a direct impact on the people will be completed. ”
We will continue to monitor the contractors to ensure that they speed up work and finish in good time, and as stipulated in the contract terms.
