I never suspended the Ebi of Ebikoro-Ikeduru Chairman

The Chairman of Ikeduru Local Government, Chief Sam Aka has debunked reports that he has suspended the chairman, Council of Ndi Eze in the Local Government Area.

In a swift reaction to a report credited against his person by an Imo state based newspaper that he Sam Aka dared the Governor of the state Rochas Okorocha by suspending the chairman of the Ikeduru LG Council of traditional rulers, HRH Eze Marcel D. Egemonu, the Ebi of Ebikoro kingdom, Aka, stated that he only acted according to the Constitution bestowed on him as the chief executive officer of Ikeduru LGA on a heated matter that needed to be resolved.

I didn’t suspend his stool as the Ebi of Ebikoro, rather, based on allegations leveled against him by some group of people in the LGA, and in order  to maintain integrity and peace both between traditional rulers as well as the Local Government Area.

“I had to suspend him as the chairman traditional council of rulers in the LG and in his place replaced him on acting capacity by his vice Eze Dr Emmanuel Nwaigwe as the chairman Traditional Council of Ndi Eze which was signed by Hon Martins Nwachukwu, Secretary to the LGA..”

Speaking further, Aka explained that he has a great deal of respect for the traditional rulers of Ikeduru and would not in any way try to rubbish their name or image.  He however stated that those who are behind the unfounded reports published by White Paper News papers were merely acting on calculated moves to pitch him and Rochas against each other which is not good for the people of Imo state.

According to them, “they said I was acting out of frustration, how can I be acting out of frustration even when they have acknowledged in their publication that I am the elected chairman of Ikeduru Local Government.  By that singular act, it means that I have the constitutional right to do necessary things within my jurisdiction to ensure peace and order in my council just as his Excellency does over the state.

“I would like to use this opportunity to inform my good people of Ikeduru especially the traditional rulers that I love them and have always been committed to the good cause of the council Area until my tenure as the Executive chairman of LG is legally over”.

“Further more, to Imolites, we should not be deceived by the antecedents of some sycophants who are trying to pitch some of us against Okorocha.  The Governor is our father who promised us good governance, and as his good children we will always continue to hope and believe that he will deliver as we have nothing against him”, Sam concluded.

Meanwhile the councilors of Ikeduru Legislative Council have denied the allegation that they petitioned against the embattled chairman of Ikeduru council of Traditional Rulers Eze Marcel Egemonu.

In a resolution captioned “Our stand” and made available to Imo Trumpeta and signed by the leader of the legislative Council, Hon Justice Nzeh, the Councilors maintained that the said petition from them was basically false and spurious.

“The purported petition was reported as one of the conditions for his suspension as the chairman, Traditional Council of Ndi Eze Ikeduru by the Executive Chairman of Ikeduru LGA, Hon Chief Sam Aka”.

They finally used the medium to completely distance themselves from the controversy and the wrong impression.

“This is to bring to the notice of the general public that the councilors of Ikeduru LGA DID NOT write any petition against Eze Marcel Egemonu of Ebikoro Autonomous community in Ikeduru LGA as erroneously reported by Imo Trumpeta Newspaper of Friday 19 October, 2012”.
