The Chairman of Imo State Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Samuel Ohiri, the Obi of Obi Orodo Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area is said to have fallen foul of the high standard set for Traditional Rulers in the state by Governor Rochas Okorocha.
The Governor on many occasions had made it abundantly clear that any Traditional Ruler, whose domain haboured criminals, especially kidnappers, will not only have their staff of office withdrawn from them, but have their palaces demolished with a bulldozer.
Unfortunately, a combined team of security personnel last week stormed a building, behind a filling station, located at Umuomu, Obi Orodo, in Eze Ohiri’s kingdom.
In the said Two storey building which was turned into kidnappers den, the hoodlums haboured Rev Father of St Anthony Catholic Church Uloano in Isu LGA, Faustinus Ibewuike, Eze –Elect of Owerre Nkwoji in Nkwerre LGA, Chief Nelson Orisakwe and his 72 year old cousin, Godwin Orisakwe who were all rescued by the security men from the building.
The indication now is that if Governor Okorocha will maintain his word, Eze Ohiri stands to lose both his staff of office and palace.
The trouble now is that a precedent had already been set in this regard, as a Traditional Ruler in Orlu zone lost his house, which was reduced to rubbles by a bulldozer on the order of Imo state Government, for “habouring” alleged kidnappers in his domain.
Will Okorocha play double standard now just because the chairman of Imo Council of Traditional Rulers has fallen victim this time? This is the question many Imo people are waiting patiently for answer in the next few days.
Imo state police command on Wednesday paraded the hoodlums alleged to have kidnapped those rescued at Obi Orodo.
However, information reaching Imo Trumpeta is that Eze Ohiri has denied that the kidnappers were found in his domain.
But yet, Imo Trumpeta was informed that the incident took place at Umuomu in Obi-Orodo Autonomous community.
Therefore, time will unveil, who between the two sources are economical with the truth.
