The Vice-Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof BEB Nwoke may have put himself on a collision course with the Imo House of Assembly following his refusal to re-instate sacked staffers of the University as directed by the House.
The House had in a resolution on3rd October, 2012 directed the Vice Chancellor to reinstate the staffers who were allegedly indicted by Governor Ohakim’s white paper on IMSU.
The sacked staffers had petitioned the House, narrating the injustice meted out to them by the institution and prayed that they will be re-instated with their allowances and accumulated arrears. The House had set up a committee that investigated the petition and came out with the result that they were victimized and ordered that all their requests be granted to. It was approved by the House as the VC was asked to uphold their resolution. In his remarks, Hon Kingsley Dimaku of Ehime Mbano state constituency on motion on adjournment expressed his disappointment with IMSU VC for not respecting the House resolution on the sacked IMSU staffers. Hon Dimaku said that he received a letter from the sacked staffers of IMSU on 8th October, 2012 that they were sacked again instead of been –instated. He urged the House to look critically into this disrespect of the legislators resolution by the VC of IMSU as this will serve as a warning to others.
Speaker Uwajumogu in reacting mandated Hon Dimaku and Hon Ndubuaku of Orlu state constituency to interface on the matter and report their findings to the House on 23rd October.
