Wahala! Plot to Impeach Imo Deputy Governor thickens .Accused of misconduct, insubordination

For the Deputy Governor of Imo state, Sir Jude Agbaso, it is not only raining but pouring for him, as the next few days will test his political prowess and doggedness to withstand Banana peels of political devilry.

While Jude Agbaso contemplates how to face the Imo House of Assembly which has summoned him over contract awards bordering on roads in Owerri, there is a secret plan to nail and impeach him as the Deputy Governor of the state.

The Imo Trumpeta learnt that the plot to remove Agbaso is coming from “within and outside” and is been hatched that he may not escape, as the project has gone too far that “candidates” are already jostling for his position, incase the impeachment sails through.

Imo Trumpeta was informed that if Agbaso visits the Legislators anytime from now, he will not go out from the chamber unscathed and from there the impeachment process will commence.

The idea is that you cannot impeach a sitting Deputy Governor without material facts to nail him or her.  Therefore, the Owerri road contracts will present the sledge hammer with which the coffin would be nailed.

This Newspaper unveiled that Agbaso’s present dilemma was not really his own making, but was caught in the web of high political war raging underground since in Imo, but with just a few who have the eyes to decipher that there is fire on the mounting.

The arrow directed at Sir Jude Agbaso is landing from both the Executive and Legislature.

It was learnt that Agbaso, who was appointed by the Governor, as the Commissioner for Works, has not been in the good books of the Legislators because of the way and manner he has been awarding contracts, without considering the lawmakers interests. It was learnt that most of the contractors recommended by Lawmakers were sent back by Agbaso, and in some cases, those who executed jobs from the legislators were owed, while others got paid.

It was also discovered that the Speaker of the House of Assembly Rt Hon Benji Uwajumogu and Agbaso have no love lost, following clashes by both men over award of contracts.

Imo Trumpeta was told that Chukwuma Nwoha road, a very important road in Owerri, has remained impassable due to “war” raging between both top Government officials.

Therefore, Uwajumogu and his men had waited for their pounds of flesh, until Jude Agbaso now played into their hands and expects less when he faces these men baying for his flesh.

Worse for the Deputy Governor, his Boss, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is not coming to his rescue, as sources said the Governor is enjoying the whole drama, as impeachment of Agbaso will only be in favour of the Governor, who has recently seen Jude Agbaso as a problem, over the cold relationship now existing between Okorocha and the senior Agbaso, Chief Martin, who gave him the APGA platform in 2011, to realize his political ambition.

The story is that Martin Agbaso is not happy with Rochas Okorocha who is gradually reneging on the agreement that he would not run for a second term, while Agbaso from Owerri zone, runs in 2015.

Okorocha on the other hand is said not too happy with Chief Martin Agbaso for romancing with the Governor Peter Obi camp of APGA, when he Okorocha is with the Victor Umeh camp.

Therefore, with the current scenario, even though Okorocha would like Jude Agbaso out so as to stop him alleged “spy” role on him for his brother Martin, Owelle Okorocha cannot do anything because he cannot sack his Deputy just like that.

Therefore, with the Imo Assembly debacle before Jude Agbaso, Okorocha may not have any sympathy for him.

Already, it was learnt, one of the Commissioners from Mbaise clan is said to be “warming up” incase Sir Jude Agbaso does not come out clean with the Imo Legislators.

The idea for an Mbaise Deputy Governor, if the opportunity presents itself, is to corner Mbaise clan, whom Okorocha sees as a factor in the next Governorship election in Imo in 2015.

However, the Agbaso impeachment plot can only succeed if he comes out of the Imo Assembly scrutiny with blemish.

But looking at the situation ahead, pundits are predicating that Jude Agbaso may not come out back from journey unscathed, and therefore the only alternative is to persuade the House to drop the Agbaso invitation, whose outcome may lead to impeachment.

But will the Imo Assembly succumb, after it had made the invitation open, and now that Uwajumogu and colleagues are roaring and waking up from their slumber?
