The Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council of Ikeduru Local Government Area, Eze Marcel Egemaonu has been suspended from office till further notice.

This was disclosed to Imo Trumpeta by the Executive Chairman of Ikeduru Local Government Area Chief Sam Aka.

According to the Council Boss, the Traditional Ruler was suspended and would be recalled whenever investigation over his acts in office were concluded.

It was learnt that the annual Iriji Festival of Ikeduru may have been the cause that led to the Eze’s suspension.

Imo Trumpeta was told that Eze Egemaonu went ahead with the new yam festival with out informing or involving the Local Government Council.

He was also accused of not following the tradition by not handing kolanut to Inyishi community, who are the first born of Ikeduru, to break the kolanut as annually done.

Imo Trumpeta was also informed that the Councilors of Ikeduru LGA wrote a petition against the Monarch, for neglecting them before, during and after the festival.

One of the allegation leveled against the Traditional Ruler was that during the ceremony, a minute of silence was not observed by the people of Ikeduru, at least, as a last respect to one of their prominent sons who just passed on, Chief Odejimjim.

The Council Chairman, Sam Aka, however said that after investigation, if Eze Marcel Egemaonu was not found wanting, he would be recalled back to office immediately.
