Security agents have continued to brutalize and extort money from Imolites even when it has been confirmed that Imo State is coronavirus free.
The extortion and brutality, according to Imolites have come to alarming rate in places like World Bank estate last round about, Prison junction, Fire Service roundabout, IMSU junction and other strategic places including markets and street shops.
Information revealed that innocent citizens of the state are being molested and beaten up on daily if they refuse to part with money in what has been termed. “Operation pay and go” or remain stand still.
The most wicked as we gathered are the female security agents who have blatantly refused to let go of innocent people.
It was alleged that the female security agent are the most corrupt in this particular act because they are the ones that will demand money first at the road block and anyone who refuses according to victims, will suffer on the way.
The poor people who cannot give out money, cannot even move around within their vicinity to buy anything.
The security agents themselves are not even maintaining social distance because of the money they want to collect at checkpoints.
Few days ago, it was reported that Journalists in Imo were humiliated by the security agents. The Journalists who were moving round in the course of their job were said to have been humiliated, suppressed and harassed by the security agent even when they were informed that newsmen are restricted in the lockdown policy of the Government. Concerned Imolites are now appealing to the Imo governor and Imo CP to call these security agent to order.
