IMO Flood: Non indigenes cry over marginalization

Ibezim Samuel

It all started at the last sitting in the House of Assembly on motion on adjournment, when Hon Ikenna Emeh of Isu state constituency reported to the House that the provided relief to the flood victims in Ohaji Egbema and Oguta LGA’s have been hijacked by the indigenes of the named LG’S as non-indigenes residing there are denied access to the relief materials.  He said that his constituents from Amandugba living in Ohaji Egbema and Oguta communities ravaged by the flood have beseeched his house demanding for their own relief material as they were denied access to it by the indigenes.  He therefore, prayed the House to incorporate his people on the relief aid.

In a similar case, Hon Simeon Iwunze of Isiala Mbano state constituency told the House that it is a well known fact that Mbano people predominantly live in Ohaji and own lands and properties there as they see Ohaji/Egbema as their own Lagos. That the hospitality of Egbema people made Mbano people to live there but expressed his fear that his people living there are being side-lined in sharing of the relief materials and money.

Also, Hon Luke Chukwu of Ohaji/Egbema state constituency condemned the non-inclusion of Ohaji/Egbema men in the government set committee.  He disclosed that his people are not happy with the committee as victims of the flood from his constituency might be deprived of their right.  And therefore condemned the act of printing and distributing forms by some fraudulent people to the flood victims.
