The political family of the former governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has continued to be at the losing end of the supremacy battle over who heads the All Progressive Congress, APC chapter, in Imo State.
There has been war of attrition in Imo APC between the faction loyal to the former governor and the Coalition group which the incumbent, Senator Hope Uzodinma is part of. The war centers on which of the groups controls the party Exco from ward to ALGA and State levels.
Initially, the State Exco led by Dan Nwafor was incharge before his team was removed and replaced by a caretaker committee under Chief Marcon Nlemigbo when major crisis erupted in Imo APC.
But since Uzodinma came on board, Nlemigbo has been exercising power as the duly recognized State Chairman until recently Nwafor wrote to the National Working Committee demanding to be recognized as against that of the Coalition forces.
An indication that the power play has eluded the Nwafor group believed to be backed by Okorocha is the recent submission of names of Principal Officers of the Imo State House of Assembly by Nlemigbo following the change of guard of power and subsequent defections.
At the plenary session of the House on Tuesday, a letter from Nlemigbo nominating Uche Ogbuagu of Ikeduru State Constituency as Majority leader was read. Others on the list are Emeka Nduka-Deputy Majority Leader, while Arthur Egwim and Eddy Obinna are Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip respectively.
By this single act, Trumpeta can state that the battle for who controls Imo APC has gone beyond the Okorocha team.
