The Imo State Chairman of African Democratic Congress ADC party, Hon Engr Andyson Obani has called on the current government to conduct the Local Government elections.
Speaking to Trumpeta shortly after the party’s 64th executive council meeting held last Friday at the state secretariat on 73 Christ Church road off Wetheral road, Owerri, the former ADC candidate for Ezinihitte Mbaise state constituency election in 2019 said; ”the 3rd tier of government is essential for Imo to be rehabilitated and the benefits of functional local government system are numerous.
He therefore insisted that this benefits cannot be achieved without viable Local governance, functional constituency offices, people oriented legislation, effective services which is ADC’s culture.
Hon. Obani who is also a Nigerian Professional Football League NPFL, Assistant Referee emphasized the need for a level play ground for his party and others in future elections in the state, adding that if INEC officials can be fair and honest with them, that they will win many council’s in the LG election.
“If INEC can stand firm and conduct LG elections without compromising their integrity, we will always win.
“ADC is people’s oriented party and the most credible alternative force.
We won ten(10) LGA’s and 230 wards during Government Rochas Okorocha’s regime only to be denied.
“The ADC project for new Nigeria is our collective responsibility”, Obani stated.
Explaining the core values of ADC, Obani said the party is a self funded party with honesty and transparent leaders who according to him are passionately committed to humanity, economic growth and health care.
He continued that ADC ideologies, ethics and principles are different from other parties in Nigeria.
Our leaders has been in dialogue with about 63 political parties on how to best interact our efforts and records for a more viable engagement with the good people of Nigeria.
The party he noted is working tirelessly and making good progress and the outcome which he is optimistic will lead to a super -power Nigeria; a rebirth for the nation, a masterpiece for the continent.
Appreciating all ADC party faithful in the state, Obani commended his LG chairmen already involved in the house cleaning process saying that the party prides itself with its strong grassroots dependency and that every financial member of ADC is a stakeholder with equal rights and privileges.
The National Working Committee he noted has approved the N12.5bn budget appropriation with the intention to set up well furnished offices in approximately 900 wards, 744 LGA’s and 36 states with full complements of staff.
According to the ADC chairman in Imo, the budget covers the rents, furniture salaries, events, publications, trainings and membership activities.
The party he observed has in the past suggested policies that brought Nigeria out of recession in 2016 and will always partner with democratic and progressive minded administration.
The state party chairman however commended the State Executive Council who he said is, filled with men and women integrity and honour while expressing the party’s vote of confidence on their South East Chairman, Barr Ignatius UK Nlem whom he described a round peg in a round hole.
He said the former IPAC chairman who was the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate in last 2019 Guber election has brought ADC to limelight as it’s being repositioned in Igboland as the alternative force for Nigerian President from Igbo extraction come 2023.
In their reactions, the party Deputy Chairman, Hon Charles Ikpeama, the State Secretary, Hon Engr Chigozie Kennedy said the state working committee meeting was necessary for membership revalidation and sensitization reteraing the fact that the party is not relenting on their vision as the current situation in Imo will change, when ADC eventually emerges successful.
The Youth Leader of the party in Ikeduru LGA, Hon Engr Chima Godson used the medium to urge Imolites especially the youths to embrace ADC noting that, it remains the credible alternative and youth friendly party.
