Worried that the peaceful co-existence among indigenes of Ikeduru is gradually wanning down, a Philantropist and illustrious son of the clan Chief Denis Okwu has donated a football trophy to be competed among the twelve wards in the area.
Drawing the schedule for the competition in his home at Uzoagba-Ikeduru over the weekend, Chief Okwu said that he was moved by is burning desire to foster unity in Ikeduru.
Chief Okwu regretted that some of the old attributes for which Ikeduru clan was known for is gradually reducing among the people and stressed the need to re-unite the people through such forum like football competitions.
He disclosed that the Imo State Commissioner for youths and sports Nr. Emelu is expected to perform the kick of ceremony which will be between Iho and Uzoagba at the Iho Township Stadium on Saturday October 20, 2012.
Also speaking, the organizers and co-ordinator of the completion Dr. Joe Chibundu gave the assurance that he and his team will do everything within their powers to ensure that the aim of the competition is not defeated.
According to Dr. Chibundu, the overall winners of the trophy which is Gold will go home with N200,000, Silver N100,000, Bronze N50,000 while the higest goal scorer goes home with N20,000 and the best goal keeper wines N10,000.
After the draw, Atta ward 1, Amata, Inyishi/Umudim ward are in group A. in Group B are Avuvu, Iho and Uzoagba while Ngugo/Ikembarar, Amakohia, Akabo and Eziama/Okwu/Ugirike wards are in group C.
