The Black Mambas of Mozambique on Sunday became the 5th Nation to win the Mock-Nations cup after defeating the Black Stars of Ghana 2 – 0 in the Final.
Earlier before the final game, Mauritania who were making their fist appearance in the tournament also made history when they defeated last years finalists Burkinafaso in a third place match to finish the competition as the 3rd best team also were awarded the best entertaining team.
In the final game Ubalaka Kosisochi (Aka Ronaldo) decided to write history when in the 2nd minute of the first half he volleyed home the centenary goal (100th) of this year’s competition to give the black manibas a much deserved lead.
Although the heavens were pouring down it’s blessings with rain, it never denied the mammoth crowd from watching the best of football skills as the two teams exhibited good football artistry with Ubalaka (Ronaldo) of Mozambique and Chinoso Onyewuchi (Iniesta) of Ghana the main actors.
When the 2nd half resumed, Opara Micheal Josiah (White) got the insurance goal for the Black mambas as he ghosted behind the Black stars defense to slot home a cross from Ubalaka which punished the Ghanaians for missing series of opportunities to restore parity.
Speaking to ‘‘Imo Trumpeta’’ after the game, Mambas team manager, Bar. Enebri Enerst (Enibado) said ‘‘I hade no doubts about the ability my players right from our first game against Tunisia which won 3.0, I knew my boys were ready for the crown and today we are champions after wining the 3rd place last year, it feels good to be a champion,’’ said Enibado.
Meanwhile, Mr. Chimezie Iberosi (man u) the Black stars gaffer blamed ill luck for all the near misses his players had in the game but praised them for reaching the final.
The tournament produced 101 goals as Bobby of Mali won the highest goal scorer award with 6 goals and the most valuable player of the tournament went to the one handed player Ubalaka (Ronaldo) of Mozambique.
The local organizing committee chairman, Mr. Ray Ebede took time to appreciate the dignitaries that attended the final especially the Eze Udo 2 of Orji who also appreciated the presence of Ogbonna Kanu the younger brother to the Amb. Kann Nwankwo who was the Host of the tournament.
