The Supreme Court verdict that decided the actual winner of the March 9, 2019 governorship election has come and gone but not without making Imolites feel the exit of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP.
Recall that Ihedioha was sworn-in on May 29, 2019 and lasted for eight months before the Supreme Court judges struck.
Though, the outcome hit the residents of the state like a thunderbolt as there wasn’t much jubilation that heralded the pronouncement.
Reports from our correspondents across the state showed mixed reactions with many regretting Ihedioha’s exit.
Recall that Ihedioha upon assumption of office hit the ground running, commenced work on over 31 roads within the State capital and other parts of the State, not including the over 300 kilometers under World Bank assisted Rural Access Mobility Project across the State. The possible abandonment of the road is worrying people of the state.
Ihedioha began the construction of mini stadia across the 27 LGAs and ultra modern LGA Secretariat with that of Ahiazu already completed as at 26th December, 2019.
Ihedioha also began the comprehensive rehabilitation of Dan Anyiam Staduim Complex. Work was on going before now
Ihedioha began the renovation of Otamiri Water Scheme. Ihedioha began the rehabilitation of Adalpam, Avutu Poultry, Nekede Zoo, Oguta Motel, Oguta Wonder Lake, amongst many others.
He was able to grow Imo Internal Generated Revenue (IGR)/to about #1billion within 7months from about #200million.
He ended the era of operating about 250 bank account in Imo State as witnessed under his predecessor by introducing the Treasury Single Account (TSA) system in the state.
Ihedioha restored salaries and pensions of civil servants and pensioners to 100percent from 70 percent inherited from his predecessor.
Virtually all aspect of the state experienced desirable turnaround just like the local government system was restored with full autonomy under Ihedioha.
