The devastating effect of flood which has grounded many communities and areas in the country has set its foot in Imo state as Oguta community has become a disaster zone.

Making this known to the public is the newly sworn – in member representing Oguta state constituency in the Imo state House of Assembly, Hon Eugene Dibiagwu a motion after adjournment begged the state and federal government to come to their aid as the flood has drive his people off from their peaceful home.  He also said that the flood has destroyed their farm lands thereby, starving them of food. “The flood in Oguta is devastating.  So many building have been submerged.  The iron bridge leading to senator Nzeribe’s house has been submerged and this is the only gate way to Egbuoma community. There is no access road from Imo state to Egbuoma right now as result of the flood and Anambra is the only route.  This is a home of the state secretary government, Prof Anwuka and it is quite embarrassing.  All the farm products have been destroyed and the people are weeping.  The pavilion in Oguta community where we do have government gathering is also flooded and even the house of the deputy secretary of Nigeria Local Content, Mr. Ernest Nwapa has also been taken over by the flood”.

Hon Dibiagwu pleaded with government to come to their help through NEMA and other bodies that handle such issues as his people are homeless and devastated.
