Just a month after a Non Governmental Organization NGO, adjudged the chairman of the Interim Management Committee IMC, Ngor Okpala LGA, Chief Charles Abara as the best council chairman in Imo State, the man is yet in the news as he has been lauded for his stewardship.
A Group, Ngor Okpala in Diaspora (NID) based in United Kingdom has yet again praised Abara for the massive projects going on in the LGA within such as short time.
Speaking to Newsmen after inspection of projects initiated by the Governor Emeka Ihedioha administration, with Abara as the Anchor man in Ngor Okpala LGA, the Group commended the Governor for appointing Abara.
Leader of the Ngor Okpala in Diaspora (NID) United Kingdom Chapter ,Chief (Dr) Anthony Onyemechi Ndulo said that his Group which has been in Nigeria in the past three weeks decided to carry out a tour of Ngor Okpala without informing anybody.
Dr Ndulo said that after thorough investigations, which even took them to other neighboring LGAs, they have no option than to commend Abara for the wonderful work he is doing in Ngor Okpala.
The Organization said that what baffled her was the completion of the abandoned upstairs in the council Headquarter, Umuneke, called “FINANE HOUSE” which had remained abandoned for more than Twenty years.
“For Over Twenty years now, no administration deemed it fit to complete this Building.
But Hon Charles Abara’s administration has done that. It shows love, maturity and continuity in Governance and respect for Ngor Okpala people” the Leader of Ngor Okpala Diaspora said.
Also speaking, Adaora Echebiri, who is a practicing nurse in London said that while in some LGAs the stadium and secretariat projects are still behind, but that of Ngor Okpala are nearing completion, which must be commented. We are not politicians and say it the way we see it” she said.
Architect Ambrose Okere, who said they are yet to meet Abara, depending if the Group has the time, said that from hence, any Ngor Okpala man given an appointed position or elected by the people must be put under scrutiny, and if such a person is not performing must be shown the way out.
“That Ngor Okpala is suffering and back ward today when compared with others is simply because we look at faces and allow sentiment to rule our sense of judgment.
This Mr Abara has shown that Ngor Okpala still has men and women who can deliver, but have not gotten the opportunity to serve” Ambrose Okere said.
Asked when they Group will meet the council chairman, the leader of the Group, Dr Anthony Onyemechi Ndulo replied that it may not be necessary since they have concluded their assignment and only to report back to the larger House, when they get back to United Kingdom.
He however said that Ngor Okpala as the Third largest LGA in Nigeria needs support in Road construction due its large land mass, adding that the Group will make out time to pay courtesy call on Governor Emeka Ihedioha next time they visit home.
“We learnt that the Governor listens to genuine requests. When we meet him we will appeal to him to please help our people. Ngor Okpala has one of the worst roads in Nigeria” Dr Ndulo said.
