Imo Partners US Government on Power, Tourism

 

The Imo State Government has initiated talks with the government of theUnited States of Americafor establishment of a power station, generated from gas to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to the state.

 

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Chinedu Offor disclosed this while addressing newsmen in his office on the highlight of economic trip of the State Governor, Rochas Okorocha to theUnited States.

 

He said that theImoStatedelegation reached an agreement with the Senator representingLouisianaand other influential black congressional caucus members like Sheila Jackson Lee and Rev. Jersey Jackson of theUnited States, on ways of collaborating withImoStateon the transfer of technology in oil and gas sector.

 

Mr. Offor also said that Imo Government met with an ace American actor, Isaiah Washington and other Hollywood stars on ways of utilizing theOgutaWonderLakeas a film village as well as to improve it to international standard.

 

He added that the Governor signed an agreement with the Mayor of Miami, Florida on the development ofMiamicity’s proto-type tourism and hospitality industry inImoState.

 

Imo spokesman, Offor equally said that government liaised with acclaimed American tutors to train students of Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo and State College of Professional Studies (ICAPS) on advanced technological skills to make them compete favourably in the international market.

 

The commissioner further added that government agreed on a bilateral relation between the Imo State Radio and TV Station, IBC and the Voice of America in the areas of technological co-operation and programme promotion.
