59th Independence Anniversary celebration, Tuesday, October1, 2019 turned political forum for PDP Aspirants as they campaigned for support in the upcoming council polls.

Our rolving reporter who visited the 27 local government areas of Imo State to monitor the anniversary celebration observed that Peoples Democratic Party Aspirants for the upcoming council polls hijacked the event for their creation of awareness and campaign for votes.

The aspirants in their own style stormed the arena for the celebration as early as possible to take the seats reserved for very important personalities. Their supporters were physically seen in almost the 27 LGAs singing their praises as well as creating awareness with placards and sharing hand bills.

The awareness campaign according to report lasted for hours as it somehow delayed the match past in some LGAs.

The so called aspirants made some donations to the school children that came out for the match pass. They also promised to do great things for their people if they are voted into power during the council election coming up very soon.

It could be recalled that Governor Emeka Ihedioha last week hinted that there is no going back on Imo council polls scheduled to take place on December 2019. The governor stated that the major foundation of Democracy is the participation of the people, adding that his administration will make the 3rd tier government very functional and so vibrant.

Ihedioha further promised that the LGA election in Imo State slated to take place in December 2019 will be free and fair.

Reporters gathered that the aspirants are now going from one house to another to canvas for vote. If the election eventually hold in December as planned, it will be the first time in the past 16 yrs local government election were held at the inception of a new administration.

Meanwhile ISIEC has submitted that it is fully prepared for the LGA election. All the political parties in Imo State are going to participate in council polls.
