Hon Emeka Ariguzo, the Interim Management Chairman of the Imo State Transport Company, ITC, has revealed that the team only met on ground, 33 vehicles in the agency.
In a media chat with Trumpeta correspondent yesterday in his office, he said ITC under the past administration was left moribund.
Ariguzo, while reeling out some of the focal achievements of his team said, the 33 vehicles were also left in sorry state with no air conditioner and incomplete parts.
Even as accolades have continued to trail their giant strides within the 4 months of assumption, he averred that in line with the rebuild Imo mission of getting all the sectors of the State working again, they holistically embraced due process.
He disclosed that before they came onboard, most of the ITC loading bays across the country and in Ghana and Togo were closed down due to poor management, adding that as at today, the affected parks in Umuahia, Ikotu, Kubwa are all functioning.
Similarly, he revealed that the place which operated for 8 years without public power supply can now operate daily and effectively with constant electricity.
More so, he said, “when we came here newly, we met no single computer set and other office equipments, but all those things have been taken care of. The environment which looked like a dead zone, as you can see by yourself has gotten life once more”.
Ariguzo also highlighted that the diaspora loading bays in Ghana and Togo will soon kick-start, which according to him was a reason for his recent visit to the above mentioned countries.
In a related development, the ITC boss recalled that before the advent of Chief Emeka Ihedioha, ITC workers and Franchise were owed, adding that his team has addressed the issue to normalcy, and are being paid promptly and completely as instructed by governor Ihedioha.
Hon Ariguzo seized the opportunity to call for more franchise to enable the agency function optimally.
According to him, “We are expecting more fleet of vehicles, even if it’s over 200 to position in all the ITC loading bays across board. To be sincere, for our Ghana bays alone, 200 fleets might not be enough”.
“We are achieving all these because we work in a cordial understanding and to say it all, due process is our watchdog”.
Meanwhile, he, on behalf of the management team and the staff have congratulated the governor and his deputy, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha and Gerald Irona on their tribunal victory at the tribunal last weekend.
In a felicitation note, Hon Ariguzo described the victory as divine, stressing that it was a clear manifestation that truly, Imolites voted massively for them for the repositioning of the State which is already taking place.
However, he pledged their loyalty and support towards making Imo great again, and in fixing the ‘dead’ ITC back to the rightful position it belonged.
