Mr Tony Nwaru, the Publisher and Editor in Chief of Disciples of Democracy Magazine, a parliamentary Publication domiciled in National Assembly Abuja on Saturday took on Former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha over his recent disparaging comments on the performance of Gov Emeka Ihedioha , contending that he (Okorocha)lacked the moral justification to castigate the government.
Nwaru who spoke during an interview session with journalists in Owerri, Imo State capital over the weekend said Gov Ihedioha is on the right track going by few critical decisions he took that would put the state on the path of success.
He accused Okorocha, now Senator representing Orlu senatorial district of attempting to cause unnecessary problems by peddling falsehood, saying this was a man who had 8 years to write his name on the sand of time but chose to convert state properties into his personal property.
According to the vibrant media guru,” I’m speaking as a concerned Imolite, the number of action embarked upon by Gov. Ihedioha led PDP administration in a short while portrays him as a man who is not going to take the people for granted. The governor has shown he’s not an emperor who is not sensitive to the plight of his people. Ihedioha has proven beyond reasonable doubt that he meant well and feels the pulse of the people of Imo State. He has shown much commitment, competence, capacity and good intention to our people irrespective of the rot he met on ground”
Reacting to Okorochas allegation, Nwaru said his claims were laughable. He opined that the likes of Okorocha should be a prison candidate by now saying he left Imo state in a state of shamble and should bury his face in Shame.
The Mbutu born Nwaru said Okorochas allegation on Gov Ihedioha”s personal house in Owerri is baseless. The Governor has commence some expansion projects at his civic center residence few months to his election not after his inauguration as Imo Governor. “
He said,” Ordinarily for a man who has been living in his personal house for close to ten years it should not raise any form of eyebrows if not for the lousy nature of the opposition elements in the state especially from the former Governor who inspite of the rape he perpetuated in the state still shamefully has the guts to go about dancing naked. “
“The simple question as far as I am concerned is can anyone in Imo question Rt .Hon. Emeka Ihedioha’s capacity towards raising any mansion of his choice at any time even if he is not Governor? Having said that I think we should devote time to more serious issues affecting the Imo populace”.
When asked to advised the people of the state, he said” My advice would go to both the people of the state and to His Excellency the Governor of Imo. To the people I would advise that we be patient with the government having seen a number of actions that reflect hope and purposeful leadership. We must continue to pray for the man at the helm of affairs and his team and always be positive. “
“To the Governor I have one advise. He should at all times ensure he deploys a listening ear if he wants to end up a great leader. Imo is a community of very enlightened people that always cherish leaders who do not take them for granted. One burning issue I would advise the Governor to take a second look at for now is the issue of the 27 Stadia by the LGAs. It’s a good project especially when I read some clarifications by the Governor’s SA on New Media, but even at that I believe the timing is wrong. “
“Such projects can always come up later within the life span of the administration possibly after sensitive issues like pensions would have been regularized and payments effective. Roads fixed reasonably especially within the Owerri metropolis. Going into such a project at this time in the face of the level of decay in the above critical areas could create an atmosphere of rancour and misunderstanding of his good intentions”.
In his words, Nwaru said,” Okorocha is saying all these lies to weep up sympathy. It is shameful he could descend this low. Thank God Imolites are wiser now.”
