The All Progressive Congress, APC, Imo State chapter is now in disarray, following the failure of the party to produce a Ministerial slot for Imo State.
Instead of a member of Imo APC to be chosen as a ministerial nominee, the President, Mohammadu Buhari went for Hon Emeka Nwajiuba of the House of Representatives, who contested and won his seat on the platform of ACCORD Party.
The latest development has shell-shocked top members of Imo APC who had hoped that Buhari would pick one of them, and rebuild the party in Imo State.
With the choice of Nwajiuba as Imo Ministerial nominee, the APC in Imo State now is in a confused state, as those thought would have been prefared by Buhari have all lost out, therefore plunging Imo APC deeper in crisis.
Already, the choice of Nwajiuba is causing ripples within Imo APC, as stalwarts of the party who had remained in the party despite all odds, are now pained.
Nwajiuba, a long time ally of President Buhari, won the Okigwe South Federal Constituency seat through the court, after he defeated Hon Chief Chike Okafor of Action Alliance AA through litigation.
Before then, Okafor had been declared winner by INEC, and was already preparing for inauguration when Nwajiuba snatched the seat through court.
However, many had happend that the Imo Ministerial slot was among Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Governorship candidate of APC in Imo, Prince Eze Madumere, former Deputy Governor of Imo State, and Sir Jude Ejiogu, a former Secretary to the Government of Imo State.
But Buhari shocked everybody by moving for Nwajiuba that was already a member of House of Representatives, and of ACCORD Party stock.
Why Buhari went for Nwajiuba, this Newspaper learnt, is that he trusts Nwajiuba than the trior of Uzodinma, Madumere and Ejiogu, following a long time political relationship with Nwajiuba that dates back to their All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP days.
With the latest scenario, Imo APC is heading for implosion that may take time to pick its pieces.
Ejiogu, Uzodinma and Madumere had sunk millions of Naira in sustaining Imo APC. And over-looking them for Nwajiuba spells doom for Imo APC.
However, sources told Trumpeta that Buhari may compensate the trior with mouth-watering Board positions as he did Dr TOE Ekechi.
Meanwhile, confidential sources whispered to TRUMPETA that Buhari may have used the Ministerial slot to help Nwajiuba to realize his dream of contesting for the 2023 Imo Governorship seat.
Before now, Nwajiuba manned the TETFUND where humungous funds were directed to further his political dreams.
However, it is yet to be seen if Nwajiuba will continue in ACCORD party, or move over to APC where his political father, Buhari is.
But TRUMPETA was told that Nwajiuba who left APC during the elections to pursue his dream in ACCORD party has since returned to APC.
However, when he did that was not made open like when he left, fueling speculation that he is still in ACCORD.
