COURT CLEARS ELECTED CHAIRMEN, COUNCILORS. – Authenticates May 2010 PDP Primaries – As Imo Govt Others Loses Again.

–        By Anthony Anyanwu.

An Owerri High Court presided over by Hon Justice Agugua Yesterday struck out the suit filed by the PPA Local government chairmanship candidate in the 2012 council elections in the state Rev Ejealo Akamdiocha.

Rev Akamdiocha and others from other political parties had challenged the authenticity and legitimacy of the election which produced the council chairmen and councilors in the state in 2010.

According to the suit, Rev Akamdiocha had said that the elected council chairmen and councilors were no candidates prior to the 2010 elections based on Justice Goddy Anunihu’s order which purportedly said that the PDP had no candidates in the 2010 local government elections.

In his ruling, Justice Agugua insisted that it is not the duty of the court or any other person outside the party to determine the candidates of any political party for it.

She maintained that since the PDP presented the candidates after its primaries for the local government elections and they were legitimately elected and sworn – in, that she has no reason to rule otherwise.

And in conclusion struck out the matter and went ahead to award a cost of N10,000 to each of the twenty seven local government council chairmen and councilors against the claimants.
