Hon. Yusuf Muhammad ANKA Ag. Chairman NPC, who was represented by the Federal Commissioner for Imo,Prof Uba Nnabue performed the flag-off ceremony before Traditional rulers, women and leaders from Obowo communities as well as staff of NPC

Nnabue seized the platform to solicit the support of stakeholders in Obowo council area of the state to make the exercise a success .

The Population Commission boss disclosed that the EAD exercise is not the enumeration of persons living in the country and its outcomes will not in anyway determine the population of any community, Local Government or State.

Its just the the division of the country into small geographical area to facilitate enumeration and the vehicle that drives the entire census process. This is why we in the Commission have resolved to get it right in our quest to deliver to the national an accurate, reliable, acceptable and verifiable census.

He said “The EAD constitutes the foundation on which the entire census architecture stands, it forms the basis for the planning and execution of the census project.”

The support of state governments and society agencies where the exercise is scheduled to take place will in no small measure, ensure adequate security of personnel and materials as the fieldwork last.

According to him,”may I once again appeal to State and Local Government Councils ,Traditional Institutions and communities in the affected areas to support the Commission in carrying out EADby allowing demarcators unfetted access to facilities and places in the areas to be demarcated. “

He averred, that In the pre-census period, the total number of EAD and its distribution is required for census planning particularly the deployment of personnel, logistics and materials. EAD is also required for the pre-test, trial census, the main census and the post enumeration survey.
