Indications are that a former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim is set to return to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Sources close to the former Governor told Trumpeta that the planned movement back to PDP is already in motion and would be actualized soon.
Chief Ohakim who contested the 2019 Imo Governorship election under ACCORD Party already has his son, Emeka in the Government of Governor Emeka Ihedioha of PDP.
Emeka Ohakim is the Special Assistant to Imo Liaison Office, Abuja.
Ohakim governed Imo State from 2007-2011, and his administration was touted to be the cleanest in the State with its Clean and Green mantra.
Ohakim in 2007 contested for the PDP Governorship primaries which was not successful and he moved to Peoples Progressive Alliance PPA, under which platform he won the Imo Governorship election that year.
He however returned to PDP but lost the 2011 Governorship to Rochas Okorocha of All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA.
In 2015, he returned for PDP Governorship primaries which was won by the incumbent Governor of Imo State, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha.
Ohakim remained in PDP until he declared he has gone on political sabbatical. When he returned to the political arena in 2019 he romanced briefly with PDP and later went to APGA, where Senator Ifeanyi Araraume grabbed the Governorship ticket and Ohakim who was one of the Aspirants, left and joined ACCORD where he ran the election.
Therefore, the news that he is heading back to PDP seems like a man heading back home to his abode.
Although the former Governor is yet to confirm the story, indications are that his recent political body languages tilt towards a PDP return.
With his second son Emeka named as part of Ihedioha’s regime, pundits had even predicted that it would not be long before Ohakim makes his way back to PDP, which he was a pioneer member in 1998.
